Conflict of interest

In the NYTimes: In a scolding report, the nation’s most influential medical advisory group said that doctors should stop taking much of the money, gifts and free drug samples that they routinely accept from drug and device companies.

  1. I agree that this practice needs to be banned. I want to be able to know that I can go to the doctor and be prescribed a medication that would best treat my condition, not because they receive kickbacks from a certain company.

On a similar topic, isn't it funny that the drug companies advertisements are geared toward patients? Is it not the doctors job to prescribe the correct medication to the patient?
