Last night we had an interesting discussion. I’m posting the Wikipedia’s definition of
"homosexuality." Take a look at the "contents" box. Also take a look at "
abortion" and the "
ethical aspects of abortion." Again, to properly discuss these topics one needs first to find out the facts provided by the different scientific disciplines: biology, medicine, sociology, psychology, as well as history etc. Remember that moral judgments need facts and reliable moral norms.
Mr.Triff,
ReplyDeleteI happened to learn of NAMbLA(north-american man/boy love association)today and begin to question if morals and ethics still exist in our time. To be ethically correct, I understand that it is considered not as unethical under the condition that relationship is consensual between young boy and a man. How could rational society allow sick pedophiles to form a national organization???

Remember what Mr. Triff said... support your moral values with facts and start from there.
Let’s see... http://www.nambla.org/ What’s it all about??
NAMBLA is a political, civil rights, and educational organization.
We condemn sexual abuse and all forms of coercion
NAMBLA calls for the empowerment of youth in all areas, not just the sexual.
As gay youth, we feel that it is necessary to raise consciousness on this subject in order to avoid conflicts which may arise out of ageist attitudes.
But what exactly is ageism? Simply stated, people are guilty of ageism when they:
1)Ignore a person's ideas or contributions simply because of that contributing person's age;
2)Fail to recognize a person's abilities due solely to his or her age;
3)Imply that a person's behavior stems directly from his or her current age.
We support greater economic, political and social opportunities for young people and denounce the rampant ageism that segregates and isolates them in fear and mistrust.
(All this is taken directly from the site)
As you can see it is a gay awareness site but more importantly it is a forum for young people to vocalize their point of view on how society treats them. In the site it refers to being approached as a feeling, thinking being that should be judged on his merits not his age. The fact that it has to do with sex is just one aspect. This topic is also very broad... it could be understood to address the reality of under 18 yr old boys that all ready have sex (with younger or older people.) It also is an outcry by young gay people who are oppressed by the very “rational society" we all live in.
Once again, there are many points to be made and scrutinized, but we should always start out with the facts as best we understand them.
That's not true. Pedophilia is illegal and immoral.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about "ageism." Obviously, a 15 year old boy's psyche is not fully developed. He is not an adult yet. Because of this reason, he would not be in a position to fully understand the scope of some of his actions. This makes a sexual relationship between an adult and a minor unethical.
